While we’re excited about the upcoming release of Unleashed’s new user interface, it’s always great to receive feedback on users experience with the current version. Unleashed was recently described by Software Advice’s inventory management expert Forrest Burnson, as one of the most well-designed UI’s they have seen.

We were given the opportunity to ask Forrest a couple of questions, and we were particularly keen to hear what he thought made a good User Interface, and why he thought Unleashed was one of the best Inventory Management user interfaces available in the market today.

How did you end up in your current role?

My background is in journalism, with a particular focus in data-driven reporting and business, tech and political reporting. I have written and reported for a number of newspapers, outlets and publications prior to joining the Software Advice team, where I cover buyer and industry trends for Inventory Management as a Market Research Associate.

How did you find out about Unleashed’s inventory management software?

Through market research. I compiled a list of over 20 inventory management systems and examined all of their user interfaces. Unleashed was one of the few to come out on top.

What makes a good user interface?

A good user interface can be determined by two things. The first is more objective: How long does it take the average user to figure out where everything is and how everything works? Depending on the type of application, this could mean anywhere from a couple of minutes for something like a basic word processor to tens of hours for something like a computer-aided design program. A good user interface means that the user will be able to quickly grasp how to use it, relative to the kind of application it is.

Second is a bit more subjective: How does the user interface look? Most users generally care about an application’s functionality more than anything, but a well-designed, clean user-interface can make quite a difference in keeping the user engaged.

What appealed to you the most about Unleashed’s user interface?

I particularly liked the data visualization capabilities that Unleashed has, which are translated well through its UI. It’s difficult to present a lot of information in an aesthetically pleasing way, but Unleashed succeeds in balancing function with form. That’s super important for business owners who need a good inventory management solution but don’t want to be bogged down trying to make sense of the vital information that is being thrown at them.

And now, dear user, we would love to hear your feedback!

We loved hearing Forrest’s feedback about Unleashed’s user interface, and now we would love to hear yours! We’re giving a few select customers the opportunity to test the new user interface before it is rolled out to all users, so If you would be interested in evaluating this, please email us here, and we’ll be in touch.
