Unleashed is like nowhere I have worked before

Hello, I am Sianne! I fit into Unleashed Software by being part of the integral friendly Customer Engagement Team, and I also manage infrastructure and coordinate social events for the Australian offices.

I’m a woman of many talents in the office and there are many things I do that people may not know about, including letting the locked out people into the office, being loud, and organising our cultural events (which are really fun)! I do a lot of the Twittering and Facebooking for the Melbourne office as well.

I have been working in the technology sector for about 5 years now, specializing in tourism, reservations, procurement, and now inventory! Each role has been different, but each role has been customer-facing, and every day I am in awe of the fast pace and innovation within the technology sector.

Unleashed is like nowhere that I have worked before.The people, the events, the office environments, the culture, and the giving aspect of the whole community has blown me out of the water. Here you are a person with a voice and face, and you can be loud and still be loved! Having the freedom to manage my own workload how I work best, to arrange volunteer days, to plan social events for the staff and to work with such awesome people is definitely an advantage.

Everyday I am faced with an issue or question that I have never come across before which requires me to come up with a workaround for the customer. Each workaround must be specific to the customer and not hinder their business processes – we want to make life easier, not harder. The ever present challenge is figuring out how to stretch out 8 hours to achieve more!

I haven’t quite figured out how to turn back time yet, although I have definitely developed my time management skills. If I need to put in the extra hours to make our customers happy, then I will! Nothing beats happy. Having access to other team members whose brains are also full of knowledge, and being able to pick them, helps overcome a lot of brick walls that I encounter.

I was asked recently what advice would I give to someone who was about to move into the technology sector, and I think it would be… be yourself, know yourself. Just because its tech and you are liaising with a customer (more often than not) behind a screen or a phone, doesn’t mean you are a robot – if you output happy, everyone else will output happy! If you know yourself and what you want then anything is possible, and that makes every single day exciting.
