We recently left the cosy, nurturing bosom of the ecentre on Massey University’s Albany campus where we had sheltered and grown over the last few years. When our founder Greg Murphy started out there a few years ago, the first Unleashed desks were upcycled doors. The table tennis table was an old whiteboard and our one phone line was ridiculously crackly.
But it was a fantastic place to be, filled with like-minded people all focused on technology export who could bounce ideas around and feel as though they weren’t in it alone. Along with this, ecentre CEO Steve Corbett’s contacts and assistance with exposure to the investment network was invaluable in getting us to the size where we could spread our wings and eventually leave the ecentre. It took quite a long time to find the right space, but it all came together in the end.
We’re now very proud Takapuna residents with a fantastic space to call our very own on Hurstmere Road. Our head of design, Junior Madureira, did a sterling job in kitting out our space. He was often working until the wee hours of the morning to get everything shipshape for our shift. Our space feels a lot more ‘Unleashed’ and we’ll never tire of our view of Rangitoto!
Looking forward to the next chapter for Unleashed, strolls along the beach and swims once it warms up a little more. Our official opening is this Friday and we look forward to celebrating this new space.
