We were thrilled to be named Xero Australia’s Small Business App of the Year! As part of the winner’s experience, we were invited to a money can’t buy experience with the Australian Xero team for two days. Over these few days, we attended learning sessions and got some really great takeaways from the lessons and the team. Here’s what we did:
Two amazing days with Xero Australia
Our first day was spent getting to know the Xero team and the rest of the winners. It was an honour to celebrate your fantastic achievement alongside you.
Starting the day with the Xero Australia weekly kick-off, then right into an “Ask Me Anything” session with Trent Innes, Managing Director of Xero Australia and Asia. Of course, the information wasn’t for public ears but trust me when we say it offered insights into Xero’s key messages and values!
Next, we attended a social media workshop that was all about producing content that is not only engaging but also shareable! We look forward to applying our learnings from Loren Bartley of Impactiv8 to our content.
Day two kicked off with a strategy session with Rob Goodwin, packed with tips, resources and learnings underpinned by the strong Xero values again. Two key resources – Patrick Lencioni’s five dysfunctions of a team and Blue Ocean Strategy.
We were given the opportunity to work with Very Special Kids, a children’s charity that helps families across Victoria. They are the only child’s hospice in Victoria who need funding to continue their great work. We were tasked with a fundraising challenge — talk about a hands-on experience after our strategy session with Rob Goodwin!
Our two nights culminated to the Xero Awards 2019 Dinner with our fellow award winners, judges and Xero executives; it was definitely a night for the books. Thank you Xero for being such amazing hosts and providing such a rewarding experience.
Xero has five values: human, beautiful, challenge, champion and ownership. We really felt their values shine through during the two days we were there — their sessions reflected the passion, purpose and energy they have in their company. We’re so glad to be working alongside them!
