New Zealand’s Techweek is back this year with their nationwide festival of innovation ecosystem events. As New Zealand’s technology and innovation sectors continue to grow rapidly, Techweek provides a week-long opportunity for like-minded innovators to connect, display the latest tech, and share ideas.
Unleashed Software fully supports innovation and idea sharing. Here’s a look at some of our contributions to the technology industry.
Sharing ideas and engaging our community
At Unleashed we also dedicate time for Hackathons and Innovation Sprints. It’s a day where developers and testers can put their creativity and innovation to the test! It also allows the company to keep agile and stay relevant.
Through TechHub, we send our staff to schools to get the conversation about working in the tech industry. Most recently, our CTO/General Manager went to Long Bay College. In 2017, we had a special Hackathon where we invited students from local colleges to participate and share their innovations. We aimed to provide a great environment for giving students a taste of the IT industry.
Participating in Techweek18
Last year, Pixel Fusion invited some of New Zealand’s most experienced entrepreneurs and innovators, including our very own Lisa Miles-Heal, to share their thoughts on the idea that corporates must build partnerships with start-ups in order to innovate successfully. This debate gave attendees some food for thought and we hope they walked away with ideas that they could apply to their own business.
Speaking at the Xero Developer Roadshow
In partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the Xero Developer Roadshow in 2018 was a free event series for anyone working on technology for small businesses. The talks offer insight and practical advice to help you build products and grow your business.
Our NZ and UK team were excited to share our AWS journey at XD18 in Auckland and London respectively. We talked about how we built Unleashed on AWS, from our impetus to change to the lessons we learnt.
Searching for our Unleashed Development superstar
Our Development Internship Programme is a highly anticipated (and busy) time in our calendars — we put a lot of time and energy into looking for the perfect interns. Over the 12-week period, our interns worked closely with our development team to bring their ideas to the table and got hands-on experience in a range of tasks. This year we hired three fantastic grads from the University of Auckland and Unitec Institute of Technology, who continue to contribute to many projects.
