What does your business do?
We are an online footwear retailer, specializing in branded casual, lifestyle and athletic footwear. We service to the Australian market only.
What’s one of your favorite products?
Converse – Chuck Taylor All Star. An iconic shoe, originally introduced as a basketball shoe and has now evolved into one of the most recognized shoes in the world.
Why do you think your customers like this footwear range so much?
They are so versatile; they come in high tops, low tops and a plethora of colorways. They are extremely affordable and are a fashion statement for any individual who wears them.
Can you give us a brief history of your business and the growth it has experienced so far?
We established there was a gap in the market for fashion forward footwear without the premium prices that is so commonly seen today. Established in July 2014, we have experienced year-on-year growth from a revenue and traffic perspective. For the Financial Year 2016/17 we are expecting further growth of approximately 75% and have seen slightly increases month-on-month as well.
How is Unleashed helping your business grow?
Unleashed syncs with our website and offers customers a live inventory feed of what we currently hold or don’t hold in stock. It works perfectly when synchronized with Xero and Magento, all the while producing fantastic reports through a very self-explanatory platform.
The synchronization of inventory with the website is a critical factor in the business. At any point in time we can identify the value of stock, even when buying in different currencies and/or exchange rates. There is no more reliance on taking the website inventory count as gospel.
Is there something you are particularly excited for your business right now?
Growth, growth, growth! We are seeing organic growth as we learn and buy better inventory for our customers. Identifying the best sizes/colors that works the best for our specific market. We are introducing some new functionality to the site and making it even more responsive, so that it appeals to users on all devices. As we learn and grow, we are seeing much better returns than we had previously. More importantly, as all startup and owners are aware, it’s hard to pay yourself in the early days, and it seems like with this growth, we can start paying ourselves a salary!
Is there something your business in particularly proud of?
We are a team of friends who have joined in for the ride, learning from one another, and learning from each mistake we’ve made along the way. Some may think it’s an easy road, but we’ve struggled, and have been challenged in this journey of entrepreneurship and friendship. Proud that we’ve fought our way through the tough times thus far and have made it into our now 3rd year.
