The Australian food and beverage manufacturing industry is bustling and booming. Globalisation and consumer tastes are molding trends, with increased consumer awareness on health and label transparency shaping innovation particularly within the food manufacturing, coffee roasting, and brewery segments.
In 2016, the food categories with the most new product launches were chocolate confectionary (an amazing 265 new launches!), processed meats, ready meals, and snack bars.
This innovation is expected to continue over the next few years with the fastest growing segments predicted to be popcorn, baby food, nuts, and sports nutrition. On the beverage side, high growth will come from ready-to-drink tea and coffee.
